Introducing: Barbara Clay, Sugar Hill Resident
Barbara was born and raised in Rochester, New York, and lived there until she went to college. A graduate of Marymount College, Barbara majored in political science and minored in Spanish. While pursuing her degree, Barbara met her husband Henry on a blind date, and the two were married just after Barbara graduated.

Henry’s career in the Coast Guard sent the couple all over the country, including Rockland, Maine and Staten Island, New York. Together, Henry and Barbara have four children: one daughter and three sons. She enjoyed 53 years of marriage, four children, seven grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
Once their children had grown and graduated from school, the couple moved out west to Santa Fe, New Mexico, where they lived for 13 years. Barbara started a successful property management business there, but she and Henry made the decision to sell the business and move back East to be closer to their grandchildren. The adventurous couple purchased a fifth wheel trailer and toured the country--all fifty states by fifth wheel, with the exception of Hawaii. Barbara has not limited her travel within the United States; her favorite places to visit are Italy and Spain.
“What More Could We Want?”
Barbara and Henry settled on Wolfeboro as their new home after visiting. “Wolfeboro had everything we wanted, hospital, library, lake, fire department, and it was in tax-free New Hampshire. What more could we want?” Barbara has lived here since 1997 with her late husband Henry until his passing.
A volunteer at Wolfeboro Bay Nursing Home, where she and her church visit once a month, Barbara also enjoys reading, singing in the choir, and gardening. Barbara decided to come to Sugar Hill last May after deciding that she was looking for an easier lifestyle and noted the friendly people and community environment helped her with her decision.
